The Lake Anna Civic Association typically holds its annual membership meeting on the last Saturday of July at the North Anna Nuclear Information Center (NANIC). THIS YEARS MEETING was held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2026. Each year, the meeting is open to all members in good standing and begins at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast and time to interface with the various committees. The official meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and features a review of the past year’s activities, election of officers, reports from the committees and a guest speaker on a topic of interest or impacting the lake and it environs.
The guest speakers this year were Stacey Brown, Head of Boating, DWR, and DGIF, and Sarah Marshall, Director, Strategic Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement, Dominion Energy.
Stacey Brown spoke about buoys and regulations, as well as funding for the agencies, DWR and DGIF. These agencies are governed by statutes put forth by the General Assembly in the Code of Virginia and issue regulations for wildlife, fisheries, endangered and threatened species, and boating. She also spoke about boat kill switch regulations, navigation rules, fees for various licenses, and renters taking the boating safety course.
Sarah Marshall spoke about an update on the Small Modular Reactors, as well as receiving an extension of the license renewal for 80 years. Upgrades are also being made at North Anna at a cost of $2 million.
The meeting featured reports by other committees and a recap of LACA's activities during the year. One of the other highlights was the presentation of the Jack Bertron Distinguished Service Award, recognizing outstanding efforts on behalf of the Lake Anna community. The late Jack Bertron founded LACA, and the award recognizes his work to preserve Lake Anna during his time here. This years award went to Jody Korman for her Louisa Clean Initiative.
